Clubman of the year 2019 Kevin Hunt
Kev joined the club in December 2015, moving down from Wigan and instantly transferring his affection to Portsmouth. At that time, the club didn’t have a keeper. While his record of never having won a football trophy in his life didn’t inspire much hope, walking football transformed that record (and his self-belief), as many photos show his presence in winning teams across all age groups.

Despite 2 back operations, Kev can still dive full length and get back up again!
He has an enviable record in penalty shoot outs. He is particularly proud of saving the deciding penalty in the WFA 70s National Cup Final (2018) and the trophy he won for “Save of the Tournament” in The Bobby Moore Cancer Charity tournament (2017).
His method of telling the penalty taker where to kick the ball seems to work, except for the sudden death penalty shoot-out in the final in Portugal (2022). Taking his penalty turn, he told the keeper where he was placing it and, of course, the keeper saved it. Sometimes it is better to say nothing!!!
Kev is an ex-seaman – practical, methodical and tidy. Echoing Portsmouth FC’s kitman the moniker “Kev the Kitman” has stuck. He took over responsibility for handling all the team kits in 2018, storing them at home, dispensing them to teams and laundering them – he is a veritable rottweiler at chasing up kit and we just don’t lose any (lost kit is not easily replaced as styles and colours change).
Kevin is very reliable and always willing to help round the club. Kevin has acted as minibus driver and chauffeur to many tournaments. He undertakes practical tasks with determination e.g. constructing the club equipment store, organizing storage and equipment as well as banners to advertise the club.
